French Orthographic Reform: A Sonnet
There must be a certain hex
Upon the French circumflex:
Serving the word at its apex,
At least it's not used over "aix."
But in France they are changing the specs:
It's just one of the sociolinguistic projects
To show that the government respects
Total ease of spelling for all its subjects;
It was not designed to harass or to vex,
but many a citoyen still objects.
Creating a storm at its vortex,
The reform is the thing coming next:
Apparently going circumflexy
Is no longer sexy.
